Tampa, FL – On Saturday, April 29, Connor “The Kid” Coyle makes the second defense of his NABA middleweight title against iron-chinned Argentine Christian Fabian Rios at the Hilton Carillon in St. Petersburg, FL.

A native of Derry, Northern Ireland, Coyle trains in Pinellas Park, FL under Florida Boxing Hall of Famer Jim McLaughlin. A perfect 18-0 with 8 knockouts, Coyle had a breakout year in 2022, going 4-0 including a May decision victory over Antonio Todd to secure the NABA title. The 32-year-old is currently ranked #4 by the World Boxing Association (WBA, and plans to fight for a world title within the next 12 months but he must first win Saturday evening.

A veteran of 43 fights, Rios faced a number of top fighters and has only been stopped once. The Buenos Aires battled the likes of David Lemieux, Esquiva Falcao, Billi Godoy, Tommy Langford, William Scull, Kyrone Davis and Najee Lopez among others. He owns victories over Ulises David Lopez (27-3) and Martin Fidel Rios (13-1-2), while battling Jorge Sebastian Heiland (19-2-1) to a draw.

Like all of his foes, Coyle respects Rios and knows the importance of improving with every fight, especially as bigger opportunities are likely to come in the near future.

“Rios is a tough and experienced veteran who’s faced a lot of world class guys,” said Coyle. “We had a full eight week training camp in Florida and we worked hard on making improvements. I am excited to be back in the ring and plan to give the fans a great performance.”

In the co-featured bout, St. Petersburg’s Joseph Fernandez, 15-5-3 (5 KO’s), challenges “Mean” Marqus Bates, 11-5 (8 KO’s), of Taunton, MA for the vacant NABA 140 pound title. Both fighters went through the ups and downs of the boxing, but the winner of this 50-50 fight will be in position for a significant opportunity in the near future.

Willian “Babyface” Silva returns to the ring in an eight rounder against Diego Gonzalo Luque. Residing in Brazil and training in Florida, Silva’s excellent professional ledger is 29-4 with 17 victories by knockout. Representing Argentina, Luque’s 21-11-2 with 10 KO’s.

Unbeaten St. Petersburg light heavyweight Imran Haddabah puts his 8-0 record on the line versus Scott Lampert of Dover Plains, NY. A local fan favorite, Haddabah is 8-0 with 6 KO’s. Lampert is 5-7 with 4 wins by stoppage. 

Super featherweight Gabriel Morales of Lowell, MA battles Kalamazoo, MI’s Nathan Harp Jr in a four rounder. A former Golden Gloves champion, Morales is 6-0 with 3 KO’s. 

Welterweight spoiler Rodrigo Coria meets Marcelo Fabian Bzowski in a six rounder. Coria is 10-5 with 2 KO’s and his last four foes have a combined record of 60-2. On January 14, the 24-year-old Argentine lost a close decision to Brian Norman Jr. (22-0)

Methuen, MA junior middleweight Luke Iannuccilli, 5-0 (2 KO’s), faces Christopher Wright of Tifton, GA and Clearwater, FL’s Mike Misa, 3-0 (2 KO’s) squares off with Massachusetts native Russ Kimber in a light heavyweight contest. Both fights are scheduled four rounds.

Doors open at 6 pm and the first bout is scheduled for 7.

Orlando, Florida – Antonio Vargas the WBA

Continental Americas Super Bantamweight Champion with a complete shutout, In and out with flurries, He displayed the same skills that had him ahead on the cards against Michell Banquez from Caracas, Venezuela who was visibly tired in the later rounds as Vargas finished him off at 2:38 seconds of round number six by TKO victory.

Clearly an emphatic win for Vargas buzzsaw has certainly proved himself the premier Vargas.

Vargas fight notes He’s aggressive and extremely busy, but there is also a high level of skill in his swarming approach, and he is not easy to tag.

Vargas also takes a good punch, absorbing several bangs from his prior fight against Jesus Martinez without wobbling.

Vargas punches in rapid-fire combinations, usually from long range it’s fun to watch the development and how he can get the job done.

I believe Vargas is certainly on course to capture the public’s imagination with his performances, Vargas and his close-knit team on course to a title shot indeed.

New York, NY, – BoxingInsider returns for its fourth promotion in six months with Broadway Boxing, a card full of local and international talent to be streamed globally on DAZN.

BoxingInsider is thrilled to once again work with Hall of Fame promoter Lou DiBella’s DiBella Entertainment to promote the latest installment of Broadway Boxing. Brooklyn’s Brian Ceballo (13-1, 7 KOs), a five-time New York Golden Gloves champion, will headline against Dominican Edward Ulloa Diaz in an eight-round super welterweight contest. In December 2020, Ceballo captured the WBO Inter-Continental welterweight belt. Ceballo will be looking to rebound from his lone defeat in his last fight on October 26, 2022.

The stacked undercard will feature Mongolian Olympian Tsendbaatar “Chinggis Khaan” Erdenebat, former women’s world champion Miyo Yoshida facing Indeya Smith, local boxers Sydney Maccow, Christian Otero, Ireland’s Larry Fryers, and David Lopez. They will all lace ‘em up on Thursday, April 27, at Sony Hall, in the heart of Times Square, Manhattan.

The April 27 event is promoted by BoxingInsider Promotions and DiBella Entertainment.

Two-time Mongolian Olympian and 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Tsendbaatar “Chinggis Khaan” Erdenebat (5-0, 3 KOs) will compete in an eight-round super featherweight bout against Edy Valencia Mercado (20-9-6, 7 KOs). Tsendbaatar returns to Sony Hall following a third-round TKO win at the venue on February 23.

Former WBO Super Flyweight World Champion Miyo “Miyo Musashi” Yoshida (15-3) was born in Kagoshima, Japan, and now resides in New York, NY. Prior to becoming world champion in 2019, Miyo won the Japan Boxing Commission and Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation bantamweight titles. As world champion, Miyo made one successful defense, then lost the title by technical decision (stoppage due to gash over eye). She regained the belt in a rematch six months later. In her last fight, she lost the WBO title via split decision. 

Indeya Smith (6-6, 1 KO), from Dallas, TX, via New Orleans, LA, made her BoxingInsider Promotions debut on December 21, 2022, with an upset win versus Sulem Urbina, dominating the bout from the opening bell.

Sydney “The Jackal” Maccow (8-8, 3 KOs), born in Sint Maarten, Netherlands, now residing in Brooklyn, NY, is coming off of a five-fight streak of four wins sandwiched around a no contest. 

Christian “Veneno” Otero (4-3, 2 KOs), from New York, NY, made his pro debut on October 31, 2020, and his career began with four straight victories.

In one of the most exciting matches a club show could make, this bout features a real-life New York City grudge match between Church St. Boxing Gym trainer and boxer Maccow and fellow New Yorker Otero. The dislike here is real and born in the gym, as these two went to war in sparring. Edited footage showing a Maccow beatdown soon hit social media, which started a dispute that must be resolved in the professional prize ring.

Joshua David “Pretty Boy” Rivera (8-2, 3 KOs), from La Mesa, CA, made his pro debut in 2018 and his first nine fights took place in Tijuana. His last bout, at Madison Square Garden on the Amanda Serrano-Erika Cruz undercard on February 4, was a unanimous decision loss against an undefeated Aaron Aponte.

Larry “Lethal” Fryers (11-6, 4 KOs) was born in Clones, Ireland, and now resides in Yonkers, NY. Fryers won 11 of his first 12 fights after making his pro debut in 2016. As an amateur, he was an Ireland Nationals U21 finalist and a U23 semi-finalist. “Lethal” has a large Irish following and is eyeing another chance at glory.

“Dynamite” David Lopez (2-0, 2 KOs), the 19-year-old super lightweight phenom from Las Vegas, NV, will compete in a four-rounder. In his last fight, Lopez needed just 87 seconds to stop Paul Walters Jr. on February 17 in Topeka, KS. Coming from a family of fighters, Lopez, who is of Black and Filipino heritage, is trained by his father and former boxer Kris Lopez.

Puerto Rican junior flyweight Rene “Chulo” Santiago will defend his WBO Latino title in a 10-round main event this Friday, April 14 against hometown hero Carlos “Arañita” Ortega at Coliseo de Combates in Panama City, Panama.
 
Santiago-Ortega and undercard bouts will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
 
Santiago (10-3, 7 KOs) is a 31-year-old contender who debuted as a pro in 2014. He captured his first regional title in January 2020 with a decision win over countryman Israel Vazquez. Following a near two-year layoff, he defeated Jose Calderon via second-round TKO and suffered his third pro loss via unanimous decision against Yudel Reyes in April 2022. Santiago is coming off a controversial DQ win over undefeated contender Gerardo Zapata last December. Ortega (15-6-3, 6 KOs), whose nickname means “Little Spider,” is a 14-year pro. He stopped Victor Berrio in the second-round of their May 2022 matchup. 
 

In other streaming action from Panama City:

• Derrieck Cuevas (24-1-1, 16 KOs), the fighting pride of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, will defend his WBA Fedecentro junior middleweight title in a 10-round battle against Cuba’s Damian Rodriguez (13-1, 7 KOs). The 28-year-old Cuevas is coming off a second-round TKO against Esneiker Correa last December, while Rodriguez returns from a three-plus-year layoff.
   
• In a battle of Central American light heavyweights, Panama’s Yunior “Bronco Man” Menendez (6-0, 5 KOs) and Costa Rica’s Juan Carlos Chavarria (6-1, 6 KOs) collide in an eight-rounder for the vacant WBC Fecarbox title.
   
• Puerto Rican super middleweight knockout artist Luis J Rodriguez Fernandez (11-0, 11 KOs) looks to make hit 12 for 12 versus Ecuador’s Roger Guerrero (17-3-1, 10 KOs) in a 10-rounder.

Orlando, Florida – In tonight’s main event Cruiserweight Demetrius Banks (13-12-2, 5 KO’s) from Detroit, MI. shocks the crowd at the Caribe Royal in Orlando, Florida by pulling off an upset in round one by baiting Adrian Pinheiro (10-1-1, 9 KO’s) from Orlando, Florida. who was holding his own until a hard exchange of blows in the corner Banks catches Pinheiro in a counterpunch with a hard shot that rocked Pinheiro sending him down to the canvas at the official time 2:45 seconds of round one by KO win for Banks.

In tonight’s co-main event hard-hitting Idalberto Umara (10-1, 9 KO’s) from Hulguin, Cuba successfully defended his WBA Lightweight Fedecaribe Title by taking out Braulio Rodriguez (20-6, 17 KO’s) from Santo Domingo, DR.

hitting him with a devastating shot to the liver that floors Rodriguez referee Telis Assimenios waves off the contest at the official time 0:26 seconds of the opening round by KO victory for Umara.

Jeovanny Estela (11-0, 3 KO’s) Orlando, Florida. bit down on his mouthpiece and slugged it out against a very tough

Saul Corral (23-20, 13 KO’s) from Sonora, Mexico.

All three judges had it 60-54 for Estela.

Heavyweight Henrich Ruiz (3-0, 3 KO’s) from Isla De La Juventud, Cuba overpowered tough Jose H. Corral (20-33, 12 KO’s) from Sonora, Mexico with hard shots staying right on Corral who didn’t come out his corner for round four.

Super Welterweight

Ramiri “Bebo” DeJesus (3-0, 2 KO’s) from Orlando, Florida. stops

Bryant Costello (1-8, 1 KO’s) Fayetteville, NC. at the official time 1:33 seconds of round three by TKO victory.

Super Middleweight Jamar Pemberton (4-0, 4 KO’s) from Las Vegas, NV. continues to impress as he ends Juan Celin Zapata (7-23-2, 5 KO’s) from Bronx, N.Y. night at the 2:08 mark of the opening stanza by way of TKO victory for the red hot Pemberton.

Lightweight Jonathan Cortes (2-0, 2 KO’s) from Orlando, Florida put his shots together getting Paul Amaro (0-2) from Fullerton, CA. out of there at the official time 0:55 seconds of round four by TKO victory.

Lightweight Shamara Woods (1-0) from Orlando, Florida makes her long awaited pro debut tonight scoring a four round unanimous decision win against Sarah Click (1-3-1) from Orlando, Florida.

All three judges had it 40-36 for Woods.

Light Heavyweight Daine Smikle (2-0, 1 KO) from Orlando, Florida had an outstanding performance scoring a unanimous decision win over Angel Vasquez (0-5) from Springfield, MA.
