Kissimmee, Florida – The summer edition of Boxeo Telemundo Ford series kicked off Saturday night at the Kissimmee Civic Center in Central Florida in-front of a packed crowed Boricua Jonathan “Pitbull” Vidal (18-2, 10 KOs) of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico battled Juan “El Loquito” Kantun (21-7-3, 15 KOs) from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico in a bout schedule for 10 Rounds with the WBO Latin super flyweight title.
In a explosive match up that ended in dramatic fashion as Mexican challenger Kantun jumped right on Vidal mixing it up quite impressively against Vidal in the early going. Kantun took some quick hard punches early on but it didn’t take much for Kantun to exchange against Vidal landing big right hands and vicious attack as Kantun applied a lot of pressure, Vidal controlling the action mid rounds beating Kantun to the punch, But it was Kantun keeping the fight close stepping into Vidal not giving him any space to land clean shots and out scoring him.
Vidal somehow found his range in the late rounds as Kantun continued walking into punches getting careless talking to Vidal trying to size him up, Vidal behind slightly in points found the key and opened the door by landing a crushing overhand right that sends Kantun down to the canvas as referee Dennis DeBon issued the count to Kantun who was not fully recovered from the blow as DeBon called a holt to the fight at 2:44 of round 8 by KO victory.
RODRIGUEZ SHINES IN TELEMUNDO LIGHTS
Jr. featherweights, Samuel Rodriguez (3-0, 3 KOs) was victorious when highly touted Jayron “Super Boy” Santiago (2-1, 1 KO) didn’t come out for round four via official time of 2:59 of round 3.
MERCADO TAKING THE FIGHT BY FORCE
Welterweight Anthony Mercado (7-0, 7 KO’s) from Puerto Rico makes Javier Perez pay in the counter punching as Mercado out worked Perez who used bad technical by reaching in to much and getting cracked by the hard punching Mercado who ended the fight throwing a hard right hand to the body at .34 seconds of round 3 sealing the win for Mercado.

Undefeated welterweight prospect Emanuel “Pirata” De Jesus moved to (11-0, 7 KOs) with a fourth round TKO at 2:59 journeyman Juan Aguirre (6-13-1, 0 KOs).

Super Welterweights Asaac Smith (0-1) form St.Petersburg, Florida. took a hard right hook from the pressuring Moises Hernandez (1-0) stopping smith at 2:40 of round 2 by KO victory.

Welterweights Juan Castillo from Puerto Rico fought in close range dissecting the frustrated Luis Rodriguez via unanimous decision win in 4 rounds for Castillo.
