Herring Retains WBO Title In DQ

Las Vegas, NV – The WBO Junior Lightweight World Champion Jamel Herring (22-2, 10 KO) from Coram, New York retains his title as Jonathan Oquendo (31-7, 19 KO) gets disqualified for intentional head butts.

Herring timed Oquendo beautifully with a short left upper cut dropping Oquendo to the canvas in round three.

Herring keeping the distance outboxing Oquendo as both fighters clash heads as Oquendo lowers his head into Herring in round five, referee Tony Weeks deducts a point from Oquendo at the end of five.

Herring could not continue due to an attention foul a point deduction was given to Oquendo, The Nevada Athletic Commission referee Tony Weeks calls a halt to the bout by way of disqualification.

 

Steven Nelson (17-0, 13 KO) from Omaha, Nebraska retains his WBO NABO Super Middleweight title by finishing off very well regarded fighting hero DeAndre Ware (13-3-2, 8 KO) from Toledo, Ohio at the official time 2:24 seconds of round six by TKO victory as referee Jay Nady jumps in to save Ware from anymore damage.

Light Flyweight puncher Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (12-0, 8 KO) from San Antonio, Texas waisted no time blasting Janiel Rivera (18-7-3, 11 KO) from Bayamon, PR. putting Rivera down a few times in the opening minutes then finishing Rivera off at the official time 2:03 seconds of round one by TKO victory.

Heavyweight Jared Anderson (6-0, 6 KO) from Toledo, OH. in another easy matched fight knocks off Rodney Hernandez (13-10-2, 4 KO) from Modesto, CA. wiping him out at the official time 2:22 seconds of round four by TKO victory.

Welterweight Benjamin Whitaker (14-4, 3 KO) from San Antonio, Texas. controlled the action in route to a six round unanimous decision win over Rodney Hernandez (13-10-2, 4 KO) from Modesto, CA.

Judges official scores 59-55, 60-54 (2x). for Whitaker.

Junior Lightweight Ruben Cervera (13-2, 11 KO) from Santa Marta, Colombia was to strong for Rennard Oliver (7-3-3) from New Orleans, LA. jumping right on him breaking him down as Cervera shooting a hard shot that hurt Oliver ending his night at the official time 1:42 seconds of round two by TKO victory.

Featherweight Edward Vazquez (8-0, 1 KO) from Ft. Worth, Texas. pulls out a decision victory over Adan Ochoa (11-2, 4 KO) from Los Angeles, CA.

Both fighters staring off strong in the opening round going right after each other with hard shots, Ochoa found a opening catches Vazquez in the inside with a hard right hand over the top that drops Vazquez to the canvas.

Vazquez pulls out the controversial six unanimous decision in a fight that could have easily gone either way, Judges official tallies 57-56, 58-55 (2x).

Featherweight Rashiem Jefferson (2-0, 1 KO) from Philadelphia, PA. counter punched Jose Martinez (2-2, 1 KO) from East Los Angeles, CA. out working Martínez in route to a four round unanimous decision win, Judges officials scores 39-36, 40-36 (2x).
