Los Angels, CA. – Welterweight Chris Van Heerden goes to (28-2-1, 12 KO’s) from Johannesburg, South Africa scores a ten round unanimous decision victory over Aslankbek Kozaev from Vladikavkaz, Russia breaking his seventh fight winning streak as he drops to (33-3-1, 8 KO’s). Van Heerden definitely needs to step out use his range better as he walked right into to head butts that opened cuts to his face, Kozaev a game fighter swinging for the fences but leans in too much taking big shots from Van Heerden.
Van Heerden grabbing the tempo in the later rounds definitely has Kozaev’s attention as they trade shots in the center of the ring, Van Heerden keeping the jab on Kozaev exploding on him in round seven with big shots, Judges official scores 79-73 twice and 78-74 for Van Heerden.
