Las Vegas, NV – U.S. Olympian Antonio Vargas, 20, has signed a multi-year promotional contract with Top Rank®, the company that is lead by Hall of Fame promoter, Bob Arum.

Vargas, whose father is Puerto Rican and mother is Mexican, is an outstanding amateur fighter that represented the United States at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio De Janiero, Brazil. As a pro, the ambidextrous boxer that was born in Houston, Texas, grew up in Kissimmee, Florida, and now resides in Ocala, Florida, plans to fight between the super flyweight and bantamweight divisions.

“We had a lot of offers from promoters from all over the world and we were considering several of them when Top Rank made their offer. I told my manager immediately that was with whom I wanted to be with. It’s a dream come true to be signed by Top Rank,” said Vargas, who competed in 130 fights as an amateur and ammased a record of 123-7.
Vargas describes himself as an aggressive fighter. “I like to bring the fight! I can box – I can be nice – but I just love to throw punches and let the fans see a good fight.”
“Antonio is an extremely gifted amateur who will flourish in the pro ranks. Combine that with his popularity in the Central Florida region where Top Rank will be promoting numerous shows with our partners All Star Boxing, should catapult Antonio quickly as an attraction as well,” said Top Rank Vice President, Carl Moretti.
The highly touted amateur fighter will be trained by Tito Ocasio and managed by David McWater.
“I’ve been working with my trainer, Tito Ocasio, the last couple of months now, since I came back from the Olympics. He’s more of a professional-style coach, he’s trained several world champions. I decided to train with him because he’s one of the best professional coaches in Florida right now,” added Vargas.
“I’m extremely happy for Antonio to have this opportunity with Top Rank. He’s worked his whole life to be the best and in signing with Top Rank he is now with the best. I look forward to an extremely fruitful relationship for all parties filled with lots and lots of belts!,” added McWater.

Details about Vargas pro debut will be announced soon.
