VASQUEZ CLOCKS MARTINEZ IN SIX
the welterweight co-main event at Staples Center in Los Angeles, Sammy “The Who Can Mexican” Vasquez (21-0, 15 KOs) of Pittsburgh scored a sixth round stoppage over East L.A.’s Aron Martinez (20-5-1, 4 KOs). From the opening bell Vasquez outworked Martinez, who could not get off in chasing the elusive southpaw. To everyone’s surprise, the normally durable Martinez did not come out for round seven. His corner later cited an elbow injury.
