THE RISE OF ANTONIO VARGAS

2015 Pan American Games champion Antonio Vargas (Kissimmee, Fla.) came back with a vengeance in Saturday’s action. He took on 2014 National Golden Gloves champion Christian Carto (Deptford, N.J.) for a spot in Saturday’s finals. Vargas looked to make a statement and he did just that, sending Carto to the canvas with a left hook causing the referee to call a halt to the bout in the second round. Vargas moves on to a rematch with Venegas in Saturday’s competition and will need to win on Saturday to remain in contention for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Support this wonderful young Lady Desirae Help LatinBox support this Family.

Hello my name is Elizabeth, I am Desirae’s mom. I’m reaching out to the public hoping you all can find it in your hearts to help me on my quest for Desirae to receive HBOT. HBOT( Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) is a life saving therapy that was successful for her back in Arizona. Desirae is 26 years old, and at the age of 6 was constantly seizing. She was placed in a medically induced coma to give her brain a rest, as she was seizing continuously. Desi lost her life twice during these critical moments, but she fought and pulled thru everytime! During her stay in the hospital I would search high and low to find answers for this unknown seizure disorder. With my determination I was blessed to meet Oprah Winfrey in Tucson, when our lives changed completely. We were interviewed by every radio station in our town and were on the news. This is where we were made aware of HBOT. The only problem is that it wasn’t covered by insurance for use to treat seizures.
I started doing car washes, car shows, and a special prom for special needs children in our community. My goal was to raise the money needed for this last resort treatment, to try get control over these seizures that have robbed her of a normal life.

Over the course of our treatment the seizures eventually started decreasing in activity and allowed her to start walking with assistance. She began to eat by mouth after years of not doing so. The greatest gift of all, she began to vocalize! What an honor to once again hear that sweet voice, to hear the 2 greatest words “Mom” & “God”. She was alert enough to attend school once again but would continue to seize numerous times a day, as she continues to do today. The damage on her brain is becoming more evident, and the atrophy in her CT scans shows as if she had the brain of an 80 year old person. This was damage caused by so many seizures throughout these difficult 19 years. I am on my mission once again with the power of Almighty God our Savior to give her the opportunity once again to be treated with successful progress as before. Her regression is concerning, for she no longer speaks, her manner of walking is poor, and her seizures are not controlled. With being on the medications for so long, her body is becoming tolerant to the medication regimen, therefore she cannot attend a school or day program. I know that she will benefit and be able to live a better quality of life with successful results with HBOT. I’m a single mother of 6 and will move mountains for my family. I have trusted in the Good Lord Jesus Christ everyday and I live by my faith. i know that we can reach our goal to start treatment once again! We are so blessed to have her with us still today!

Thank you all for your support and we will continue to update you on Desirae’s progress throughout this journey. Not everyone can donate financially, it’s understandable, prayers are welcomed and if you could please help share her story.

VAZQUEZ-RIVERA: HOW TO MAKE A SOLID WIN DISAPPEAR

VAZQUEZ-RIVERA: HOW TO MAKE A SOLID WIN DISAPPEAR

By Damon Gonzalez- Ringside
Kissimmee,Florida-Featherweight undefeated Rafael “Big Bang” Rivera (21-0-2, 14 KOs) won a split decision over former WBO junior featherweight world champion Wilfredo “WV2” Vazquez Jr. (24-2-5, 19 KOs) on Saturday night at the Osceola Heritage Park Exhibit Hall in Kissimmee, Florida. Rivera was very aggressive in the fight right from the opening bell posing his will on Vazquez his attack reminded me a lot of Antonio Cervantes hard punching style, tho Vazquez who caught him in round three and dropped him, The fight to me appeared to be very close Vazquez getting off the more effective cleaner shots I felt he was dictating the fight however in the end it was Rivera winning 96-93, 95-94 on two cards. Vazquez was up 98-91 on the third card.

Light heavyweight Alexander Brand (26-1, 19 KOs) recovered from a first round knockdown to win a split decision over previously unbeaten @Medzhid_Bektemirov (16-1, 12 KOs) a Gary Shaw Promotions fighter. Scores were 98-91, 98-91 for Brand and 95-94 for Bektemirov.

Super Middleweight Luis Arias (13-0, 6 KO’s) got into a very hard scrap against Dinisio Miranda (22-13-2, 19 KO’s) both fighters got into hard exchanges throughout the contest, Arias landing the more effective punches pulled out the majority decision win Judges scores were 76-76, 79-73 (2x).

Welterweight Wellington Romero (9-0-1, 4 KO’s) waisted no time bashing Armando Meroles (2-1, 2 KO) who didn’t show the best chin tonight sending him down quickly at 1:08 seconds of round one by TKO victory.

Jr.Featherweight Josean Figueroa (10-3-2, 8 KO’s) scores a six round TKO at 2:18 seconds of round six over Antoney Napunyi (11-14. 6 KO) There was no denying Figueroa’s punching power in the contest, He connected in trade with powerful combinations and targeted Napunyi with a fierce body attack, good outing for Figueroa.

Flyweight Angel”Tito” Acosta (12-0, 12 KO’s) came in as the aggressor by attacking Felipe Rivas right from the opening bell sending him down in round one with a hard upper cut, Acosta kept his hoot on the gas landing hard left hooks to Rivas body punishing him in round two then finishing Rivas off with a combination of punches ending his night with another devastating upper cut sending him down at 1:40 seconds of round three the fight was waved off by referee Emil Lombardi.

Jr. Featherweights Ricardo Rodriguez (5-0-1, 4KO) battles it out in a hard fought fight against tough Bryan Perez (2-2-1, 1KO) to a Majority Draw, Judges scores 58-56, 59-55, 57-57.

In the opening bout of the evening Jr. Welterweight Mike Melykian (1-0) from Las Angeles, CA. Impressively put quick punches together breaking down Jimmy Rosario from Manati,PR. with hard punches as the Freddie Roach Wild Card Gym prodigy wins a one sided unanimous decision Judges scores 38-37 (3x) for Melykain.
