In the opening bout of the night In front of a sold out crowed at the A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, Florida. Boxeo Telemundo series, WBO Super Flyweight Championship Mathew Villanueva takes on Daniel Lozano. Did not take very long in the early minutes of the 1st Villanueva and Lozano gets heated in the center of the ring, Villanueva looks the quicker of them two in the opening rd but Lozano making a fight.
In rd 2 Villanueva pumping his jab at Lozano who slides out left throws a nice upper cut that doesn’t faze Villanueva. Lozano continuing to press the action with him in close quarters catches Villanueva with hooks to the body.
Round 3 action Lozano trying to come back with something showing ware early on in the rd, Villanueva digging in catches Lozano who gets.
cut from a punch in the exchange, Lozano making a case that he is still in the fight lands a nice hook too the face of Villanueva showing he is still in the fighting a little space jumped right in punishing Lozano with hard shots to the head, Lozano firing back trying to rally
Round 4 Villanueva keeping presser on Lozano using his legs more giving Lozano problems getting off his shots cleanly, Lozano slipping to the left keeping close to Villanueva but taking a lot of shots to the head and body.
Round 5 Villanueva creating space but not for long as he attacks Lozano who showing ware in the later rounds of the fight, Lozano the warrior he is not backing down standing and throwing blows with Villanueva.
Round 6 Lozano in the attack took a shot to the head that gets him dazed for a moment comes back with a vicious attack of his own, Lozano not going away fighting Villanueva with pure will.
Round 7 Villanueva deciding to stay in close to Lozano takes shots back in the exchange, Villanueva working harder in the round still taking some heavy leather in the inside with the tuff Lozano.
Round 8 entering the championship rounds Villanueva continues to out punch Lozano cracking him putting a lot of presser on the bloody Lozano. At the end of the 8th round Daniel Lozano corner stopped the fight TKO as Lozano could not continue, giving Mathew Villanueva the win retaining the WBO Super Flyweight Championship title.
In his Pro debut Tori Ramirez (1-0) in the co-main event finds Harold Torres with good left hooks to the face, Torres jumped into the fight quick exchanging with Ramirez early, In Rd 2 Ramirez starts off with a straight right hand. Martinez tends to bend too low Ramirez catches him on the way up with straight punches Ramirez pressing the action fighting Torres in close quarters getting the best of the exchanges in the inside, stepping on the gas out worked Torres finishing the fight 40-36 on all 3 judges’ cards.
ALL STAR BOXING UNDERCARD ACTION FROM TAMPA
Jr. Middleweight Emmanuel De Jesus came out quick with troubling combinations catching Joel Vargas from Kansas City, KS. With a straight right hook that drops him to the canvas seconds into the 1st rd. De Jesus did not led up continued to come forward showing a series of body work doubling up his hooks on the slower Vargas. Mid through the bout Vargas showed some of an effort to exchange with the quicker De Jesus but fell short in staying in the fight he was falling short with a unanimous decision went to De Jesus who goes to (8-0, 5 KO’S) all three judges 60-53 for De Jesus.
Ruben Ozuna wins his pro debut with a split decision over gain Angel Hernandez.
Ruben Ozuna looking to make an impact in his pro debut against tuff Angel Hernandez from Puerto Rico, Both fighters started off quick getting into a very technical exchange that got heated. Ozuna fighting smart jabbing his way into good counters with Hernandez, The smaller fighter Ozuna fighting very smart setting up his shots catching Hernandez who is thinking too much in the ring and not letting his hands go as he should. Hernandez throwing wide hooks missing the quicker Ozuna that continues to punish Hernandez throughout the contest.
Jr. Welterweight Luis Olivares goes to (6-0, 4 KO’s) in a UD win against tuff Hector Merengo from PR.
Jr. Welterweight Luis Olivares making his presence felt in Tampa taking aim at Hector Merengo from Puerto Rico, It’s a display of great boxing skills as Olivares promoted by 50 cents SMS Promotions entertains the crowed with as Olivares comes out and crushes Merengo with a devastating right hand that momentarily staggers Merengo who jumped in close and exchanged with Olivares in the “phone booth” making the fight exiting.
Howard Reese from Ocala,FL. stops Victor Kulakovski at 2:52 of the 2nd Rd. by TKO.
Justin Jones from Bellair, Fl. In a toe to toe heated battle against Juan Aguirre from Jacksonville, FL. Both fighters in the center of the ring throwing punches at a high rate, Jones taking a step back popping a jab to the face of Aguirre who is having a better half of the 2nd Rd. keeping Jones going backwards not letting him set. Jones deciding to press the action a bit in the 3rd jabbing his way into the exchange with Aguirre. In a hard fought fight Juan Aguirre wins by split decision over Justin Jones.
Alphonzo Black from St. Pete, FL. Starting off very fast pace against Angel Martinez who is slow to counter back Black, I like to see Martinez go to the jab and set up his punches but Black just too quick viciously rips the mid section of Martinez as he continues to eat punches from Black. Alphonzo Black stepped right into a devastating right hand that TKO’s him at 2nd RD.
